From Father Adnan for the month of October;
Fr Tom and I drove to Our Lady of Fatima Parish for its 75th Anniversary. It’s about three hours drive and 175 KM , (110 miles), from Our Lady of Sorrows, Murree. There were more than 2000 faithful gathered along with the Arch-bishop, 20 priests and about the same number of sisters from different religious congregations. It was quite a celebration to attend and be part of.
This past Monday, October 6th, Fr Tom and I were invited by the religious sisters of Jesus & Mary to be the main guests on their founder’s day celebration. School’s children performed different acts on the stage with the help of their teachers.
Now some updates about the renovation;
Since we have shortage of water at the property, especially in summer, we installed three new water tanks to store water, which we bought about a month or so ago to make sure we have enough supply when we need it.
We had few sunny days this past week, which gave us an opportunity to polish and restore our furniture we have. We didn’t miss the opportunity and polished as much as we could. Just you know. We had rain the entire night of Sunday and day of Monday. Tuesday was just slightly different, neither rain nor sun. It’s pretty cold in here already.
This past week hot water tanks were installed in bathrooms and in the kitchen area. Tile work is completed in the entire building, (where we planed). Vanities and mirrors are installed in all the bathrooms.
We had leakage throughout the building which damaged most of the inside of the rectory. This week, repairs were done, damage sheets were replaced which helped to protect further damage because of this previous rain we just had.
A small open garage is completed this past week as well. The purpose of this garage is to protect the car from hailstorm and heavy rains, which can easily damage the car.
As we know that the months of October and May are dedicated to the Blessed Mother. People in Pakistan, celebrate those two months in a very special way. All over in Pakistan, the faithful will celebrate the crowning of the Blessed Mother in parishes with great devotion and love to honor Mother Mary.
Since the beginning of October, I have been to different parishes for the same reason. After having celebration in Jhelum in first week of October, I was in Josephbad parish for three days celebration where 1,000 plus people participated each day with the priests , sisters and the bishop on the first day, October 10th.
Following week, on Thursday, Fr Tom and I joined more than a dozen priest with the bishop to witness two young men being ordained deacons, who will be ordained to the priesthood after Easter of 2026.
Next day, October 17th, I joined Fr Nasir with two other priests and sisters to attend another crowning of the Blessed Mother in Mariakheil, where about a dozen sisters were present with 1,000 plus devotees to honor the blessed mother.
Renovation; We initially planned to complete our renovation by the end of November, 2025. But, looking how fast things are going, hopefully will be done sooner than that. It seems monsoon is on a long break and sun is out almost everyday. This helps us to do the paint and polish work.
Outside the bundling is almost done with the paint work. The building was painted with green in the past but we changed into OFF WHITE and it looks pretty good.
God bless you all and thanks for all your help towards the Mission in Pakistan.
